William B. Meyer Inc. Welcomes Expansion: Old and New Clients From Hartford, CT to Springfield, MA Areas Take Advantage of New Facility

William B. Meyer, Inc., has opened a new, 128,850 sq. ft. facility in Windsor, CT. The facility is designed for specialized storage needs such as highly valued assets, offsite electronic data, legal, financial and health records.

CHESHIRE, CT, July 30, 2010 /Human Resources PR News/ -- It's a positive sign of the times. William B. Meyer, Inc., the 95-year old Stratford-based company with multiple business lines including residential and office moving, storage and logistics, records management, and order fulfillment, has finished building a new, 128,850 sq. ft. facility in Windsor, CT. Originally slated to open its doors mid-summer, construction was stepped up and business is already being conducted at the new site to keep up with increased demand.

The new facility will consolidate and expand upon the company's previous locations in Bloomfield, Windsor and Manchester, more than doubling the space it occupies in the Hartford area. Its state-of-the-art technology includes advanced climate controlled storage and a media vault, making it the facility of choice for specialized storage needs such as: highly valued assets, offsite electronic data, legal, financial and health records. These capabilities, and an improving economy, are creating an uptick for the 4th generation, family-owned company.

"The business patterns we see make us optimistic," says Tom Gillon, President of William B. Meyer. "We've been planning for a comeback from the recession, and are ready to meet the growing needs of our customers."

One of those customers, Douglas Michalek, Records Manager at the Hartford law firm of Reid and Riege, P.C., assessed the impact of the new facility, commenting: "William B. Meyer demonstrated to me that their new Windsor site is a first-class, modern and well-run facility. I trust them with the protection of our law firm's records." See http://www.meyer-records.com for more information on data protection.

In addition to responding to increased customer demand, the company has grown its business through corporate acquisition. Anticipating future growth in both areas, the new Windsor facility is approved for further expansion up to 260,000 sq. ft.

This development brings new job opportunities and welcome tax dollars into the area, with positive economic effects benefiting many local townships. With the volume of business rapidly increasing across a number of business lines, the company foresees new operational job opportunities in the areas of Records Management, Order Fulfillment, IT Asset Management, Moving and Storage. Enrichment to the local tax base has been quantified as making "one of the more significant additions to the Grand List" for 2010. Since 1915, William B. Meyer has had a history of visionary growth and has consistently seized opportunities unseen by competitors. In the late 1940s they became a founding and stockholder agent of United Van Lines, the industry leader in residential relocations. In the 1970s, they diversified into records storage, order fulfillment, and other business services including rigging, IT asset management, and logistics.

One of the core strengths inherent in William B. Meyer's business model lies in its service capabilities for customers in the Boston to New York corridor. Gillon feels their deep local roots are a market advantage: "In an age when many consumers feel they've been neglected by major institutions, they appreciate the security of dealing with a well-known local provider with a long-term commitment."

The economic contribution of the new facility is important enough to have caught the attention of the Governor of Connecticut, M. Jodi Rell, who attended the June 2009 groundbreaking. When construction is complete, Grand Opening ceremonies are expected to attract an equally high-powered mix of civic and business leaders. More information will be announced soon about this Fall 2010 event.
